PostSubject: Why Not Fight For An Important Vote?   Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:00 pm

To the members of SBFII. For the past week or so, you have put TREMENDOUS effort into voting for Times Most Influential Person. Many of you have complained of pains from sitting at the computer for hours on end! All this for a poll that is basically MEANINGLESS! The article states CLEARLY that in the end Time editors will decide the list! All that you have and are accomplishing is adding to the revenue coffers of Time magazine. Do you not find it strange that the poll has supposedly closed, but they still allow voting?

All of this for something that IS meaningless! Perhaps a better use of your time and effort is to put pressure on your leadership to allow a FULL vote for the ENTIRE board AND administration of the site. Imagine, NOT ONE PERSON THERE HAS BEEN VOTED IN!!! Some democracy! Some fan-run site! Even if you are happy with the board and admin., don't you think it is important that those people who run the site be validated by fair elections? To the admin., if you think that you are doing a good job, then you should have nothing to fear from elections. WHY do you refuse to have them? And I am not writing about voting on 2 board members; there must be full elections for all. So, members, is not that worth your pain? Question Question Question Question Question

It wouldn't make a difference if there was a real vote, fudgie. The people left on that site would simply rubber stamp the current regime's choices for board posts. Most of them love things the way they are. Those who don't have either been forced out or are cowering in fear of being punished for being "contentious."
