PostSubject: What Happened In Scotland???   What Happened In Scotland??? EmptySun Oct 28, 2012 4:13 pm

All this turmoil at SBFII with letters to moderators,no thank yous, pre-moderations, one mod gone. What the heck happened in Scotland to cause all this turmoil. In fact, 2 VERY vocal and important members of the hierarchy have not posted for 8 and 11 days apiece; even though they are twittering and posting in news articles. What the heck happened in Scotland?? It had to be huge!!

PostSubject: The Saga Continues   What Happened In Scotland??? EmptyMon Oct 29, 2012 3:11 am

Let's see if I have this right. Circ., a former SBF!! mod made considerable waves concerning the Conflict of Interest issue on the forum. Then, lo and behold, Circ. takes a trip to Australia and a boat ride -----and comes back a changed woman, full of moddish vigor to toe the line and enforce all the rules. And now just recently, member LT makes a fuss about the enforcement of rules at SBF!! and steams the place up pretty well, causing all sorts of consternation for TPTB. And then,---what do you know?? LT is declared winner of a rather secret and circumscribed contest, the winners of which get a private meeting with Susan and a chance to stay in a posh setting and listen to tracks from her latest CD. A lucky surprise,---a wild coincidence?? Or a way to try and remove an inconvenient thorn-in-the side? Hmmmm. Just wondering.

the winner of that contest wasn't exactly a huge surprise. Would be nice if a fan that hasn't seen Susan would get the chance.

Common decency would argue that's the right thing to happen. However those die-hards believe they do deserve repeated access to Susan as her only 'real' fans. And now one who had a major part in setting up a Meet (and thus became 'important') and who has just undergone an 'attack' has 'won' this competition?

Something smells really, really awful. scratch

I think the wee lassie should be left well alone by everyone. If she wants a meet and greet then she and her team should organize proper ones for randomly selected fans far away from her home.

Well, I eat crow on a few of my former suppositions. In the first place, as Circ is a native of OZ, she didn't take a trip there, but to AGT, instead, where her ideology transformation seems to have begun. In any event, she seemed to have forgotten that she had formerly been a friend of the membership & a staunch critic of some of the staff policies----and began to become "one of them." Too bad. She morphed into super-mod---then left when she turned out to be stricter than the rest of them.

The Saga contest was legit, through and through, as it turns out. Not even SBF!! admin. could have manipulated the results of that one. So LT's win was fair and square, which is good to know, as she deserved at least that for her recent time and trouble for the benefit of the fans. Good to be able to clear up all of that and set the record straight. www.saga.co.uk

The contest was for UK residents only and 50 yrs of age or older. So anyone outside the UK wouldn't have been eligible, anyhow. Apparently the contest was advertised in the Saga magazine "Lifestyles" section. And who would know about that but the Brits?? Plus who would care except for Susan fans??

Well, yes, we know that, WAM. That has nothing to do with how it is that one particular member of EW who is in fact over 50 and who does live in the UK, so therefore qualified to enter, just happened to be one of the lucky winners.... I think we can imagine why and how this person might have had an "edge" that others did not. Certainly I can think of others from the UK over age 50 who also entered, too but who just weren't lucky enough this time..... It just is all a little tooooo coincidental if you ask me.....

Obviously that's what I imagined, too, hence my original post. But I was apparently misinformed. So I corrected it.

Your correction only mentioned the facts we already knew about the contest and the criteria, etc...... That's not what is at issue. Now, yes, if someone from the US or from somewhere other than the UK had entered by giving false information such as using a UK friend's address or some such (that has been done before in other situations) that again would be another big deal.

Whatever, we'll never know the truth and I hope that everyone who attends that event has a nice time and that at least some of the attendees have never met Susan before so it could truly be special........

My "correction" specified that I had been given additional information from someone who knows more about the situation and could tell me that I was mistaken in my original assumption. I trust the new information I was given----and that's why I said what I did. It's my conviction and mine only. No one else is required to agree with me.

With the "right" connections, anything is possible. If you want an example just look at a past presidential election in the US and the fiasco in FL. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Let's wait and see how it all falls out. Maybe LT will tell her story one day of why she really left the forum. Also bug and WW----and any of the others falling by the wayside. (Circ.??) Obviously there's been a lot of disenchantment at the old forum recently,----even more than usual.

Yes we would, but given those numbers the probability is there were quite a number of entrants. You just cannot argue with mathematical probabilities!

I am also told that a past admin. who usually posts quite often has not posted for FOURTEEN days!! Wonder what the reason is. And even more amazing NO members bring it up.
