Another Milestone For Audition Video

It took a bit more than 4 years to get from 100,000,000 views of the most watched video of the BGT audition to 200,000,000 views. We are less than 10,000 views away. Congratulations Susan Boyle!!

If all the videos were counted, including the ones taken down, because they were uploaded before Simon had reached the agreement with Youtube to monetize them, Sherry figures they reach 750 million.  Certainly, Lisa Pully on SBFII who was seriously counting  every single video of the Audition since April 2009, had it up to 500M, before she stopped counting, so that jibes with Sherry's figure.

Which reminds me of a tweet I saw a few days ago.  One girl asked another, "Is Susan Boyle still a thing (meaning important)".  The other tweeter replied, "Susan Boyle will always be a thing".  And that's why.

Here is an amazing stat. This video did approximately 100,000,000 views in about the last 50 months. That is about 2 million views a month or 66,000 views per day. Or 45 views per minute!!!! Every minute! That is 7 1/2 years AFTER the video first came out! MIND-BOGGLING!!

I viewed it a couple of days ago after not seeing it for about a year. It brought me to tears and it amazes me that it still has that power for so many people.

I went through several of the videos a couple of days ago, looking at the comments while listening, All of them had comments within the last week or so. Some of the comments were in other languages, or in broken English. There was a series of recent comments by one woman, and others who responded, that was particularly touching. Her stepfather had died the week before, and she told how they both watched Susan's video every day, including the day he died. In fact, a few hours before he passed, he had asked her to play the video one more time, and she did. It was a comfort to both of them.

Susan will probably never reach her full potential as a singer, but as a symbol of the human spirit overcoming adversity, she continues to inspire and comfort .

Precisely.  It was and remains her lasting achievement.  She still gives hope to all those beaten down people who yearn for a better life.  Never give up.

She also helps charities and it is why she is deserving already for that recognition from the Queen.

It is now April 11th, 2017 in Scotland. Today is the eighth anniversary of the BGT first audition of Susan.

Slight correction: it is the anniversary of the first BROADCAST of Susan's audition. She had already auditioned back in January of that year but BGT didn't start showing episodes until April..... So this was the UK's first look at Susan on national television and their first chance to hear her sing -- and as we know, that audition footage spread quickly around the world, far beyond the borders of the UK......

Thaat particular video has been averaging a million views per month since last October when it hit 200 million. And that is only one of many. That's why we can't judge Susan's value by the number of records she sells. Along with the 2 Andrews and her arrangers, I wish we knew the name of the person who edited the video, because it's a masterpiece.

That audition tape never fails to touch me deeply. Rather Susan continues her career or not that one event alone has impacted so many around the world. As Amanda says it was "a complete privilege" to be able to experience the sheer power of Susan's gift. It is truly a blessing that after so many rejections and negative experiences in her life she was willing to continue to seek her dream.
