If Today Happens Next Year

Here is a rather interesting scenario. If today's election at SBFII were to be held next year, it would not be allowed!! The results would be deemed illegal! Why do I say such a preposterous thing? Simple. Today's election was held under the rule that whoever voted constituted a quorum, therefore the results are legal. Next year they operate under a new bylaw which the membership voted in as law, today.

The new law states that the voting membership meeting next year must have a quorum of 55%. Now, if you use the voting numbers from today, 153 voted out of 285 eligible members, they were 4 members short of the 55% quorum needed! Therefore, if this same vote occurs in the future, it would HAVE to be declared as NO VOTE!

Imagine a future where the 55% is NEVER attained. Does that not mean an eternal board? Impossible, you say? Well, it DID happen today---NO 55%!!

We can only hope that Susan's team and the people in charge of her career at SONY finally get a clue as to how minuscule that forum's membership actually is. Once they realize that it boils down to a hundred or fewer hardcore members, that should end the exaggerated influence of SBFII and its leaders. An artist who sold over 14 million albums should not be wasting her time catering to the whims of such a small group of fanatics. Enough is enough!

Xeno, "enough is enough"!! That was Tink's thread when she wanted to get rid of "contentious" members (like you!!!!)! BTW--maybe Susan caters to their whims because she likes being called lirpa loof??

Maybe Susan caters to their whims because she doesn't have a heckuva lot going on on a daily basis; no touring, TV appearances, etc. - so when someone with Sony connections calls, Joanne (or somebody) says, "Wanna have some folks in for a bit a week from Tuesday?" and she says, "Sure! Why not?" My guess is that if she were busier she wouldn't have the time for that sort of thing.

I really can't believe that she entertains fans in her home. I wouldn't think that would be a common thing for a performer to do.

I know how: Take 50,000 and subtract 49,945. That leaves 55. This method should work with any numbers bandied about at EW. Just subtract 49,945 to arrive at a figure resembling reality.

You are right. I forgot to subtract the 49,945 "contentious" members that were banned, left, or put on pre-mod!

Based on the last real data available, AM should now be around 525, so 55% of that is 288 voters required, let's see what happens...

Hey SBFII--shouldn't you give the eligible voting membership number BEFORE the meeting???? Otherwise, shenanigans can be pulled off. Remember--figures can lie and liars can figure!

That should be another bylaw. The eligible voting membership number MUST be given out BEFORE the meeting! Any reason why not, Judy?

The eligible voters number is the one true test of forum participation. It counts real posters over the year. So, sorry, Ponylady, 21% have taken a pony ride out of town.

Allow a permeation, in many threads, of the viewpoints of one religion.
Do not apply rules equally.

One thing that was proven yesterday with the questions is that the Administration runs the Board, not the other way around. That is why the election AND the Board is an utter joke!

Well, cheaters never win and winners never loose, they cannot just create new rules for a vote that was less than their 55% for a quorum.

Congrats to the new Board at SBFII. This will be all you need for when the Admin. comes to you.
