An amazing thing has happened at the humor site of Susan Boyle fandom. A number of members have come down with what psychiatrists have now named the Scot Speak Syndrome. It seems a number of English speaking fans CANNOT speak in their normal language anymore. Scottish has taken over.
"Guid G*d. if I tried ane time I ken that I hae tried a thousand times," reported another.
"I dinnae ken what to do," said another.
The boss at Susahumor, DJG aka Mr. Potatohead, decided he must act. So he brought in Dr. Chielmeister to straighten things out pronto. The Dr. went to work and weeks later things were no better. In fact, they were much, much, worse. An interview was set up with Dr. Chielmeister. Perhaps we can learn why it did not work.

Speaking it is one thing if that's your native tongue.---But writing "in dialect" seems contrived and affected, IMO.---

Yes....especially if you are a teacher, and not Scottish, even though he has lived there.

I thought a certain forum had rules and regulations about foreign languages and stressing that all members must write intelligibly so that others can understand what is being said? After all, the purpose of a forum, any given forum, is discussion and communication. Someone putting on a pseudo-Scots "accent" and writing in that style, that "dialect," which is probably indecipherable to most members, seems to fall under those rules, does it not?
