Thanks again, DJG, for keeping up the Good Fight for freedom of speech and thought... Definition of a Forum: a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

It's definitely an error to define it a "big" forum: last month the max number on line was not even 90, the average 37...
And the word "variegated" doesn't apply either nowadays.

JMHO, all the rules and sanctions will only drive people away. Kinda makes one feel like a five year old, and most of us are way past that mark. Yes, there were lots of rules when we were kids, that's because we were being molded to be better citizens. Well, if I'm not there now, all the rules in the world will not help, only make me frustrated and angry. There will be "stuff" I don't agree with on every forum, because we are all different people. However, at least here I have the freedom to state my feelings on any matter.

I never read the rules.. I figure if you're not personally mean to anybody you'll be okay and I try not to do that anyhow. The only real difficulty I have is not saying what I really think of Gerry. But actually everybody knows that anyway so I guess it would be redundant.

Maybe this is a move to get back the UKers and Scots who have Susan access, since they were the ones who wanted MORE moderation!!

Possibly, Fudge, and very shortsighted if true. It's funny that all this is done in Susan's name when it's quite clear that she draws a clear line between her customers ("fans"), to whom she owes so much and knows it, and her friends, who she seeks out for fun.
Like all stars, she allocates a certain amount of time for fan stroking and encouragement. She understands its importance and sometimes gets a genuine lift from their enthusiasm. But I suspect that if Susan hasn't known you all her life you are never going to be on her friend list. So what's all this "ACCESS" stuff about. If you want to know what Susan's doing, Twitter seems to get it first. And if anything important occurs in Susan's career, Andy will see a media release is put out.
In sum, the only real difference between fan sites now is who you're interested in talking to.

Apparently, they've now modified one of their rules to read: "members are required to show respect for Susan, her family, her team, and her furniture at all times and in all discussions on the forum. Respect and support for Susan includes, but is not limited to, respect and support for her privacy, personal and career choices, performances, professional relationships, choice of furniture, and home town."

EXCELLENT POST (Which is really the only thing anyone is allowed to say over there now). The problem is that intelligent people need to express themselves honestly, so they're left with the less-than-genius type who doesn't mind a little stiffling and over-moderating.

LOL, it all depends on what your aims are: a discussion forum, or just a series of announcements with the possibility to agree or even to "love it"...
