| We now know that Susan's 5th CD will be another Christmas album. Opinion on this seems to be split, with many seemingly unhappy. So, here's your chance to give your opinion in our poll. |

The vote options and submit button are above the messages. Anyone can vote, including guests (non-members). |

| You need another category, "I'll Settle". It would have been nice to have jazzy/upbeat, but this is better than nothing. |

I agree! I like a few songs on the CD. Some I never heard of. |

| This is all due to the Corporate/Profit economy of the world. Make $$$$ at all costs----musical artistry be damned! And make no mistake, Susan is an artist of the highest order; one of the BEST female vocalists of our time! |

| I'm not unhappy. I really don't give a rat's hiney what album she puts out. Christmas songs aren't my favorite but I don't have to buy an album every year. |

Maybe it is OK with you, but 40% of her CDs being Christian is not OK with me. |

| Truthfully, I don't pay attention to the words that much or think of the religious aspect of the songs. I suppose if any of the songs were trying to convert people I would be offended. |

I really agree with you here. It has never occurred to me think about the religious aspect when I listen to most Christmas songs. The Lord's Prayer and Ava Maria could be exceptions. |

I love Ave Maria, and while I do know what the words translate to in English, I just enjoy the sounds of the song without thinking about the meaning |

| Hey. What can I say. I am selfish. I know how great she would be. Therefore, I keep the faith and always remain hopeful that we can finally get a blues/jazz CD with a couple of uptempo songs also. Word is Susan rocked the house with River Deep Mountain High.
I have been despondent over this new CD. Many of us were positive it would be the songs from the concert. That would have been fine with me. Then the letdown.
To an old time buddy- I remember when I wrote a thread called "Susan, Please Branch Out Musically", there was no one more enthusiastic about that thread than you, RIK. I hear you have been feeling down. I know the feeling. Hang in there, maybe one day she will satisfy our wishes. |

| Just to clarify for anyone who doesn't get it, the voting in this poll isn't about the quality of the album itself or the quality of the singing/band/orchestration/choir/arrangements, etc., but rather merely reflecting whether or not people are happy that Susan's fifth album turned out to be a Christmas album rather than something else.
Probably when we all have an opportunity to actually hear the album then on forums where it is permitted, there will be thoughts tossed around in discussion of various tracks, of particular songs and so on.... and maybe another poll or two.....but that's not going to happen for a while yet. |

I agree, but Fudgie has not bought many albums. He wants blues or jaz. |

Susan can sound like the Archangel Gabriel, but I won't buy a cd of her singing with Elvis. It does not advance either of them in my opinion. He's dead and let's not exploit him. |

Andy, Susan isn't singing the entire album with Elvis - only one song. Couldn't you withhold judgement until you hear the other songs and download the ones you like from iTunes? |

No, there are two other duets I don't want. I just don't like duets period. I don't particularly want some of the other Christmas songs that she has on that duet either. I'll listen to the tracks. There may be two or three songs that I will buy. I have several other Christmas albums that I never listen to. My favourite Susan cd so far is No. 3. |

| Number 3 -- "STWOM" -- is my favorite as well. Probably always will be! As for the duets thing, yes, I'm not too thrilled with the idea that two of the tracks on this album aren't just Susan but are duets, one with a long-dead singer and the other with someone else who hasn't been a particular favorite of mine, either. Next thing you know Susan will be trying to record a duet with Michael Jackson. Sheesh!!!! I much prefer just Susan. I'll be doing the iTunes thing -- listening to all the samples and then purchasing and downloading just the tracks I really like. The good thing about the iTunes samples is that they're long enough -- 90 seconds -- so that one can really get a good idea of what the entire song sounds like. |

These duets are a move to get more fans and higher sales. Whether or not it works, I do not know. What I do know is that Susan's voice is so wonderful and pure that I do not need other singers detracting from it, no matter how good they might be. |

| Don't get too excited there, Fudgie! Me, I'd be happy with some real down-home soul (the real thing), some blues and some jazz.....that would suit me jest fine, yessiree! Oh, and sure, Susan, if you want to toss in a little swinging, rocking gospel, too, I wouldn't object to that....... It all kind of stems from that in the first place. An album focused more on rock? That can be the 7th album -- right?! Right! |
