Another old B&W photo of Susan that I thought would look nice in some sort of colour! I have no idea what actual colours her clothes were, so I've had to guess!

I love that picture! She was such a darling little girl! I always get the feeling, when I see those pictures of Susan as a wee girl, that I'd like to take her hand, walk beside her, and protect her from the hurts we know are to come.-- hug

Such a cute picture! And WAM, that's amazing because I get that exact same feeling. I just want to take her hand and protect her.

I don't like having serious discussions on the open forum but do you think if Susan was protected from those hurts would she be the person she is? So many people have said they don't understand why she wasn't discovered earlier. I maintain she had to have those experiences to get her to that exact moment in time with the right amount of emotion to stun the world when she did.

A lot of art and artistic expression comes as the result of personal pain. I still maintain, though, that Susan's early life experience didn't have to be as hard as it was. Would she still be able to sing as well if she hadn't gone through what she did?? Maybe she'd have been even better or have been "discovered" even earlier if she'd had more confidence and less trauma. Maybe not. We'll never know.
