Xeno put on Pre-moderation

For what she wasn't told. but it's the same thing that Fudge got and the other DJGers. Thing is, she's not even a DJGer.

Wow, that's strange, isn't it? Why would Xeno, of all people, be put on pre-mod? Has she posted something there at EW that they don't like? Huh, funny how they can implement perceived punishment without even bothering to tell a person why....... You're quite right, Sassy, Xeno has never been a member of this group, although, yes, certainly she would be quite welcome if she ever decides she'd like to join.

I am also on pre-moderation, even if I only posted once last month, a rather innocent backing up of a friend.

But I did some twittering refering to the blogs and to the Guest section here...
And we know that you can be punished for bad behaviour outside ew. As the boss said: lovely people.

Well, their glory is over anyway, and they did it ALL with their own hands.
They missed that a forum member is basically a guest, with right and with duties of course, but anyway and in any form to be RESPECTED, in public and behind the curtains.

Which doesn't exclude of course that owner/admins cannot have their policy and steer the contributions and the atmosphere in a specific direction (wanting e.g. more or less humour), but anyway, the mutual respect is essential on any forum, and that's a point that the socalled "staff" has missed almost from day one. And now it is simply confirmed black on white.

It's sweet of you to take some responsibility whisper - but I'd say that had nothing whatsoever to do with it. They are gunning for anyone affiliated with this site, and/or anyone they've decided is a Pain In The Ass. My last post there was December 13, 2010, and it was completely innocuous, as were all of my posts for the previous several days (as far back as I could be bothered to look). So it appears that they've decided that certain people are in their sights, regardless of the level or recency of their activity, the content of their posts, etc.

Why don't they just cut to the chase? Declare that membership there is "at-will", i.e. at the will of TPTB, and simply ban the undesirables without comment? I find it incredibly disingenuous that they attempt to maintain some sort of fiction that they actually have reasonably understandable rules that they apply equally with regard to all members. Or that they encourage anything remotely resembling freedom of speech.

I guess they have not learned this:

Know when to use power.

You have lots of power. You can edit posts, delete posts, delete members and ban members. Use these powers sparingly. Don’t oppress members. They don’t want to live in fear. The more they worry about moderator intervention, the less they’ll be inclined to post. Members will make mistakes from time to time – don’t come down on them like a tonne of bricks if they do. Be understanding. Genuine mistakes happen. Personal circumstances may result in someone acting completely out of character.

Use your power sparingly and wisely.

Or just cover their a$$es with "Right of Admission Reserved" and then they can do whatever they want!!! Wow that will be a fun forum - but it is now anyway!!!
